Congratulations to Jack Shaffer, who has been awarded Saint Regis Falls CSD's first Seal of Civic Readiness. This measure of distinction will appear on students’ high school transcripts and diplomas, affirming their high proficiency in “civic knowledge, civic skills, civic mindset, and civic experiences.” Students are given the opportunity to achieve this seal by completing all requirements for a local or Regents diploma and earning points through social studies credits, exam mastery, projects in service learning, or high school civics, among other activities. Jack's capstone project included learning more about governance, including the work of the school board and district business office. Jack shared several important findings, including his desire to be more involved at the local level and the importance to him of passing the torch forward so that others can also be involved. Thank you to our Board of Education, our business office, and all who supported Jack with this work. We applaud Jack, who understands the importance of civic engagement and who will step into adulthood ready to use and understand the tools and information they've gained. Congratulations Jack! We are proud of you!

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the students and teachers in grades 7 + 8 who took part in Ag Safety Day, sponsored by Brushton's FFA. It was a fantastic opportunity to step outside the classroom and engage with our local community, learning about the various aspects of agriculture, safety, and the opportunities available in our area. Your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn made the day special. Events like these not only educate but also strengthen the bonds within our community. Thank you for making it a memorable experience! #AgSafetyDay #CommunityEngagement #BrushtonMoiraCSD #SensationalSaints

Our biology students had an unforgettable experience this week as they explored the inner workings of the heart through a dissection of a swine heart. Guided by Mrs. LaPlante and Mr. Bartholomew, students got a firsthand look at the chambers, valves, and vessels that keep the circulatory system pumping. Thank you to Tri-Town for supporting our classes with their donation of hearts. This lab was not only educational, but also sparked curiosity and deepened understanding of anatomy and physiology in a real-world context. We’re thankful for our teachers who set this up and proud of our young scientists for diving into this opportunity with focus and enthusiasm! #BiologyInAction #STEMEducation #HeartDissection #HandsOnLearning #FutureScientists #SensationalSaints

📚 Today, we welcomed Amber Donaldson, local author and illustrator of "It’s Okay to Share a Secret", to our school! Thanks to an invitation from Ms. Maddie and our 3rd-grade class, Amber visited with students in grades PK–5 to read her story and share her creative process. This was a special opportunity for our young readers and writers to meet a published author and illustrator, ask questions, and be inspired by her message of self-expression and kindness. Thank you Amber for your visit to our school community! 💬🎨📖 #AuthorVisit #ItsOkayToShareASecret #LiteracyMatters #StudentInspiration#SensationalSaints

Prior to entering this Memorial Day weekend, our social studies students have channeled their learning and creativity into posters that demonstrate their knowledge. As their presentations occurred, students were asked questions that paid tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. During the presentation of these projects, students reflected a deep understanding of the significance of Memorial Day. Activities like these not only educate but also instill a sense of gratitude and remembrance in our students. As we enjoy the long weekend, let us take a moment to remember and honor those who have served and made sacrifices. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Donating blood saves lives. The Student Council and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive on May 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the school auditorium, and they are looking for adults and students over 16 years old to donate. It's not hard or painful, and it's critically important. If you are 16, see Mr. Crowley for a parental permission form. If you are 17 or older, you can sign up yourself using the QR code on one of the posters hanging around the school, or see Mr. Crowley.

We are overflowing with pride here in Saint Regis Falls! 🌟✍️ Seven of our amazing student writers have been published in the 2025 Adirondack Teen Writing Anthology, a powerful celebration of youth voices across our region. Several of our writers were in attendance at today's book launch—and three had the courage to stand before a full audience and read their work aloud. Their words were moving, brave, and unforgettable. 📖🎤 This incredible moment wouldn’t have been possible without Mr. Crowley, whose unwavering encouragement, guidance, and advocacy helped lift our students’ voices to the page and beyond. We’re also deeply grateful to everyone who supported this work—families, staff, the Adirondack Center for Writing, and our broader community. Your support helps make opportunities like this possible. Our hearts are full—and our pride in these young writers is immeasurable. 💙 #SRFPride #AdirondackVoices #TeenWriters #ACWAnthology2025 #SensationalSaints
