Students in grades 4–6 at St. Regis Falls Central School District gathered Monday morning for a Veterans Day presentation where local veterans shared stories of service and sacrifice. The event aimed to help students understand the meaning behind the holiday and the importance of honoring those who have served.
Superintendent Denise Howe-Baker opened the ceremony by recognizing the extraordinary sacrifices veterans made to protect freedoms and serve communities at home and abroad. She said their experiences shaped not only their lives but the security and future of the nation, and that learning from their stories helps students understand the true meaning of service.
Each veteran shared a glimpse of their military life as students listened. After the presentations, students asked questions and spoke with the veterans. The visit ended with students showing the veterans their “Wall of Honor,” a hallway display of handmade drawings celebrating their service.
